Those looking to upskill and grow their careers can tap into Humber Polytechnic's micro-credential offerings, with more than a dozen that became eligible for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) funding earlier this year.
Humber Polytechnic offers many micro-credentials, and an additional 15 have been added as eligible for OSAP funding. This change makes these career paths more accessible, as OSAP can help cover the costs of tuition, equipment, living expenses, and even childcare if needed.
"With OSAP now available for these micro-credentials, we're breaking down barriers to professional growth," said Frank Cappadocia, dean of Continuous Professional Learning. "Whether you're looking to pivot careers, deepen your expertise in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), or simply sharpen your skills, Humber's short, flexible, and industry-informed micro-credentials make it possible to upskill without putting your life on hold. This is about giving people real tools for real progress — quickly and affordably."

Why micro-credentials matter
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly evolving technology that is becoming increasingly embedded in industry. Gaining additional knowledge and training about it can help individuals level up their careers, and Humber offers several micro-credentials to support this.
A micro-credential is a competency-centred program that is standalone, short in duration, and focused on a skill or topic responsive to industry, employer, or community needs. It allows skills and competencies to be learned in a flexible, fast, and affordable way.
Humber offers several micro-credentials, most of which take less than 30 hours to complete, and many can be completed in even less time. They also come with a digital badge that can be added to resumes or LinkedIn profiles to demonstrate accredited skills to prospective employers.
Who benefits from micro-credentials?
Micro-credentials provide essential skills for people at various career stages. Whether they're looking to enhance their resumé, test their capabilities in a new field, or elevate their existing expertise, Humber's micro-credentials are designed to help achieve professional goals.
They are also a great option for those working in a field who have been out of school for some time and want to refine their skills or acquire new ones. Micro-credentials allow this to be done quickly and impactfully.
For employed individuals considering a career change but not ready to commit to a full-time program, micro-credentials offer a way to explore new career paths before making a bigger commitment.
