Visit Universities Across Canada This Fall, Without Leaving Home!
Virtual open houses are great opportunities for high school students like you to start planning your future.
Every fall, Canadian universities welcome thousands of prospective students and their families to open houses. This year, many universities are holding classes online, and are holding open houses virtually. While this might seem like yet another way that the Covid-19 pandemic has made life harder, for prospective students who can't travel to visit the universities they're considering applying to, it's an opportunity.
Concordia University is among the many schools that have transitioned their entire open house experience to a virtual platform.
Live chats and presentations bring open houses to you
During Concordia's undergraduate Open House, which will take place on Saturday, October 24, visitors will find all the information available at a traditional in-person Open House, ranging from how to apply to specific programs, to details about what to expect from student life, resources for funding your education and for international students, and much more.
How will it work? Much like at an in-person event, visitors will be able to catch scheduled presentations from faculty recruiters, and chat in real-time with Concordia professors and students at virtual Information Booths. You will not need a webcam to attend, since you will be able to connect with others using a chat function.
Helping you make an informed decision about university, in uncertain times
"While our virtual Open House will be different than the event we can offer in-person, I am excited about the opportunity to showcase Concordia to those who ordinarily could not travel to Montreal to visit campus for a weekend," said Matthew Stiegemeyer, Concordia's Director of Student Recruitment. "Whether students are in Vancouver or Vienna, we are preparing to help prospective students and their families experience the breadth of programs and services we offer."
Even though Concordia will be holding classes online through the winter 2021 term, prospective students likely have questions about living on campus once it's safe to do so, and Open House is a great place to get answers. Live-chat booths will be covering questions about residences, off-campus housing, not to mention finding a job on campus, joining clubs, and playing sports. International students can find out about how to assemble their required documentation to join our community in Montreal.
