What a Bachelor of Business Administration is Worth at CapU

In business, hard skills and professional insight are key to success, and we offer them through our Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at Capilano University. Unlike our comparable programs at other institutions, we focus on hands-on learning through applying theory in case studies, team projects, and simulations. And it's because our instructors stand out, bringing their contemporary business knowledge, informed by years of lived professional experience, to the classroom.

Learn from experienced instructors

It's part of Carmen Bruno's role as an instructor, being “on top of learning what's happening in the world, keeping up with trends, and making sure that what we're offering students today is what students will need tomorrow.”

Learning in a compact class with an average of one instructor for 25 students, among the lowest in Canada, means you'll have more of an opportunity to seek their guidance and support while continuing your studies.

That's what made it “an incredible journey” for alumni Vrushant Zada, learning under “industry-leading instructors, working on WIL projects and sharing ideas with a diverse mix of classmates,” and where “every class, every professor and every lecture is unique.”

For program student Vishal Prem, “you get to have a one-on-one interaction with the instructors, where they get to help you with your assignments or even outside of class to help you grow your career.”

Build a versatile skill set

We work with your schedule and offer full and part-time study options in the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms at our campuses in North Vancouver and Squamish.

Whichever you choose, you can build a versatile skill set with courses in economics, statistics, business law, strategic management, leadership, and research, which alum Apollonia Gibel credits with her growth. It's “pushed me to grow—from gaining new skills to speaking confidently in front of community and business audiences to exploring my love for entrepreneurship.”

Jagarapu had “the opportunity to work for big companies [doing] market research and data analytics for them, which gets you prepared for the real-life experience outside the university.”

It taught another program student, Nathalie Berghauerova, “a lot about time management, group projects, and teamwork.”

Choose a concentration

Our concentrations are an opportunity to figure out what resonates with you, with paths in accounting, business information and analytics, financial planning, human resources management, international business, logistics, or marketing.

Qasim Dhamani chose financial planning because he “found the concentration to be something I would value having knowledge in,” since “the right amount of knowledge can greatly improve your financial circumstances.”

On the other hand, Mackenzie Gray is double-concentrating in financial planning and marketing; she initially chose the former because “I viewed this as the most useful of the six. But after taking a few marketing courses, I decided to do both,” since it “will prepare me in my career by highlighting two different aspects of business.”

Instructor Leigha Nevay also emphasizes how concentrating in the latter is an “opportunity to network with industry pros and colleagues and take part in time-constrained, real workplace situations, which will help you build your resume.”

Put your knowledge into practice

You can also be part of a cohort of winners, participating in hands-on case competitions that simulate what entrepreneurship is like, and yet another reason our BBA stands out. Our students have won regional and national titles, including placing second out of 331 in the 2025 American Marketing Association (AMA) International Collegiate Conference.

It's given alum Alex Malcic “extensive opportunities to pursue my love for business through various competitions, through which I have garnered valuable knowledge and experience, and met many amazing people.”
