If you're considering the Midwest United States for your college experience, Indiana Tech offers the best of all worlds.
If you're considering the Midwest United States for your college experience but can't decide where you want to call “home,” Indiana Tech is uniquely positioned to offer the best of all worlds.
A campus close to downtown
Indiana Tech is nestled right on the outside of downtown Fort Wayne, just a few blocks of walking distance to the heart of the city. This means students can easily access some of the city's finest sports, entertainment and arts Fort Wayne has to offer, including (but not limited to):
- Parkview Field, home of Minor League Baseball's TinCaps, as well as assorted seasonal festivals and the Holiday Lights showcase.
- Allen County Public Library, home of the world-renowned Genealogy Center, the Jeffrey R. Krull Art Gallery, StoryScape Youth Spaces and more.
- Embassy Theatre, a 2,500-seat venue that opened in 1926 and offers dozens of concerts, comedy shows and stage performances annually.
- Headwaters Park, a 30-acre park that hosts a wide range of public and private events including festivals, concerts and cultural events, weddings, family reunions and other parties. It also offers a splash pad during the warmer seasons and ice skating in the winter.
- Arts United, which focuses resources to develop, coordinate, and support arts and culture, enhancing the quality of life and the economic vitality of Northeast Indiana.
That list doesn't include the many restaurants, shops, and historic neighbourhoods both in and around the downtown area.
More entertainment beyond downtown
But the excitement isn't limited to downtown. Fort Wayne has other venues, like the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and Clyde Theatre, offering more entertainment experiences. Electric Works is a redevelopment of the former General Electric plant that offers dining, shopping, and more. The Fort Wayne FC soccer team was recently promoted to USL League 1, and just opened the doors on the brand new, state-of-the-art Ruoff Mortgage Stadium.
Outdoor options and weekend trips
If you're more interested in connecting with nature, Fort Wayne and its surrounding communities offer a robust park and trail system that can be walked or cycled. The city is also home to the “three rivers”–St. Marys, St. Joseph and Maumee–on which residents and visitors can go canoeing or paddleboarding.
Fort Wayne sits right in the middle of other iconic Midwest cities, roughly three hours' driving distance to Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Detroit, five hours to Pittsburgh, and a little more than six hours to Nashville.
Students are able to choose their own adventures at Indiana Tech, conveniently based in and around the vibrant and energetic culture present in Fort Wayne and beyond.
