Why Quebecker Vincent Simon Chao Chose MCPHS' Accelerated PharmD Program

Vincent enrolled in the Accelerated PharmD program at MCPHS' Worcester campus after completing some college and university study in Quebec.

What was the most significant factor in deciding to enroll in the PharmD program at MCPHS?

Going to pharmacy school has always been a dream of mine. MCPHS offered an accessible, accelerated program close to my hometown, which made it the perfect opportunity to pursue my goal.

What would you want other Quebec students to know about choosing to pursue PharmD studies in the U.S.?

Many pharmacists in Quebec have completed their PharmD outside the province, and the process of obtaining equivalence is often simpler than it may seem. Although pursuing studies in the U.S. requires a greater financial commitment than Canadian programs, it can provide a faster, more direct route to reaching your dream of becoming a pharmacist.

How do you feel MCPHS is preparing you for your future in the pharmacy profession?

With each semester, I can feel my confidence growing in my ability to become a great pharmacist. The curriculum gives us plenty of hands-on opportunities to put our learning into practice, and the professors are incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. We’ve built a solid foundation in patient care, everything from the core principles to knowing our way around almost the entire OTC aisle, which makes me feel more prepared for real-world pharmacy work every day.
