Co-operative education, or co-op, is one of the most common ways to get real-world work experience while attending college or university. Co-op placements typically last a few weeks, a couple months, or even a full semester or school year! In a co-op position, you work for a real organization, working and learning, as part of your graduation requirements.

Programs with an optional co-op placement

Several programs at Sheridan offer an optional co-op placement — if you choose a program like this, be sure to pursue a co-op placement anyway! Co-op's a valuable part of the learning experience, whether officially required or not.

How do I get accepted for a co-op placement at Sheridan?

If you've decided on a program with a co-op placement, great choice! Remember that co-op is still an academic program, so you'll have to meet some prerequisites to be eligible, and you'll have to maintain basic academic standards while you participate.

Most faculties at Sheridan require a minimum course grade of 50% to take part in co-op, alongside a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Certain programs, like project management for example, require a minimum grade of 70%, and a GPA of 3.0, or other, similar restrictions.
