Maximizing Your University Experience: Extra-Curricular Involvement
Now's the time to explore clubs, sports, and events happening on campus! In university, you get out what you put in.
Being in university is a new and exciting experience that encompasses many different components. Aside from academics, it's important to get involved in your school community outside of the classroom to meet new people and experience what the university has to offer. Brock University offers many different ways to get involved in various domains, so you'll always find something that you're interested in!
Start at the Students' Union!
The Brock University Students' Union, for example, is a student-led organization that runs different activites and events for students throughout the year. They organize BadgerFest — our orientation week in September — which includes welcome week activities for a fun start to the school year.
The Students' Union also oversees over 120 ratified clubs at Brock — both academic and interest-based — and they're always open to new members! Students are also able to start their own club so that they can share their passions with others.
Getting active with athletics
Brock also has many athletic activities that students can get involved in. Intramural sports are one of our largest extra-curricular activities, with over 7,000 students participating in them every year. From basketball to inner tube water polo, there are many sports that you can sign up for with your friends, or as an individual!
Even if you don't play sports, tickets to watch our varsity sports teams at their home games are included within your student ancillary fees, so you can cheer on your fellow Brock Badgers!
Jobs on campus
In addition, we have many on-campus job for students that have flexible hours that work with your school schedule. This gives you time to manage your studies while having a job that keeps you involved on campus and meeting new people!
Keeping up to date with all the action
Keep an eye out on our ExperienceBU page, where you can stay up to date with all events, club meetings, and other opportunites happening at Brock.
On this platform, you can RSVP to events as well as track your involvement through our Campus-Wide Co-Curriculum (CWC). Better yet, if you complete your CWC, you will graduate with red cords as a special recognition by Brock!
There are many ways to get involved on campus that will enhance your experience at university and make you feel a part of our Brock community. Meeting new people, attending events, and being part of activities that you enjoy will help you make Brock your home away from home!
