The University of Queensland Continues to Rise in World Rankings

The University of Queensland (UQ) is continuing to climb the world rankings, with new figures showing an improvement across all broad subject areas compared to last year. UQ is constantly ranked amongst the world’s top 50 universities, with a ranking of 47th as of 2022!

In the QS World University Rankings by Subject, UQ was 2nd in the world for Sports-related subjects, 4th for Engineering — Mineral and Mining, and 16th for Agriculture and Forestry.

In broad subject areas, UQ’s rankings increased overall, cementing the University’s position in the world’s top 50 for Life Science and Medicine and Social Science and Management, and in the top 100 for Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology and Natural Sciences.

What the high rankings mean for UQ

UQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said the results showed the University was maintaining its position as an eminent educational institution.

“Despite the challenges we faced during the pandemic, the dedication of our students, staff, researchers and the UQ community has helped cement the University’s continued position as a world leader,” Professor Terry said.

“Emerging from the pandemic in this healthy position is a credit to everyone at UQ.”

The rankings also highlight UQ’s success in creating job-ready graduates, with an increase in employer reputation scores across all broad subject areas.

In specific subjects, the higher scores were recorded in Sports-related, Environmental, Anatomy and Physiology, Nursing, Engineering — Mineral and Mining, and Psychology.

“We have continued to see an increase in UQ’s scores for employer reputation year after year, and this shows we are ensuring UQ is known as an institution that delivers highly sought-after graduates,” Professor Terry said.
