Douglas College Launches PBD in Advanced Supply Chain Management

Douglas College students will learn how to keep domestic and global supply chains running smoothly with the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma (PBD) in Advanced Supply Chain Management starting this May.

Graduates of the program will be prepared to meet the worldwide demand for qualified supply chain managers, said Justin Williams, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration (CBA).

“The pandemic has taught us that supply chains play a pivotal role in our economic and social well-being, keeping food on the shelves, and fuel in our vehicles,” said Williams. “This diploma launches our graduates into a high-stakes field that every major industry depends on, matching our faculty’s vision to cultivate successful future business leaders.”

What to expect in the PBD in Advanced Supply Chain Management program

Students will gain internationally relevant knowledge and skills with the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Advanced Supply Chain Management. Courses cover topics including quantitative modeling, warehousing, transportation, knowledge management, logistics, global sourcing, project management, inventory planning, accounting, law and contract, business strategy, and more. Students will also gain skills in business communications, report writing, teamwork, ethics, and negotiating.

This two-year diploma will prepare students to earn the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation, Canada’s most sought-after supply chain professional designation. Douglas’s PBD covers more than three quarters of the required coursework as of the 2021–22 curriculum onwards, outstripping all other schools in B.C., said Michael Lisonbee, Associate Dean of CBA.

“This Post-Baccalaureate Diploma is on track to be B.C.’s premier landing point for a comprehensive supply chain education,” said Lisonbee. “Our program gets students closer to an SCMP designation than any other post-secondary program in the province and most non-master's programs across Canada.”

The PBD joins the roster of supply chain-focused credentials at Douglas, which includes a Supply Chain Management concentration, a one-year Post-Degree Diploma, and another Post-Baccalaureate Diploma focused more heavily on international supply chains.
