Student funding

York offers specific scholarships, bursaries, and awards opportunities for transfer students, such entrance scholarships ranging in value from $500 to $40,000. Additionally, you can earn awards and bursaries based on academic performance throughout your academic journey.

Career resources

Career Education & Development (CED) is one of the most useful support services if you want to develop your professional skills. CED helps you prepare for your future by providing you with:

  • job search and skills workshops;
  • cover letter and resume critiques;
  • practice interview sessions;
  • peer-to-peer support;
  • employer recruitment events and job fairs

Flexible study options

York encourages you to take advantage of its flexible study options. You get the choice to map out what, when, where, and how you want to study. All York programs are available for full-time study, and many are also offered on a part-time basis.

York offers a variety of online courses that you can take from the comfort of your home. If you have a long commute or a heavy schedule, online courses are a fantastic way to add flexibility to your timetable.

You can also choose from many flexible learning options, including pursuing a double major in different areas of interest across different Faculties. This means that you can design your own academic schedule, so that your degree is personalized to your career interests.

Transfer and mature student-specific support services

The Atkinson Centre for Mature and Part-Time Students (ACMAPS) supports mature and part-time students from first year to graduation by providing orientations, transition, and student success programming, advising, and a peer mentor program geared toward mature learners.

With the YU START program, transfer students can easily transition into university. It provides online transition support for incoming students, including course enrolment along with a number of first-year transition modules. YU START is a great way to increase your chances of success in the first year because you get to explore key services and resources that can help you at university.
