Getting an education is only half the battle. The next step is starting your career. And the key to a career is experience.

At KPU, we’re all about hands-on experience and ensuring you get the skills you need for the job you want. Our programs all incorporate experiential learning opportunities and experiences like group projects, work experience and practicums, and guest speakers.

Several programs in business, arts, and science feature co-operative education options, alternating periods of paid work experience with on-campus study. Co-op lets you explore various career paths in depth and apply in-class knowledge to the workplace.

Getting ready to begin your job search? Make time to see the Career Services department. Our team can help you refresh your resumé and cover letter, practice your interview skills, and provide you with additional resources to help your search efforts.

Did you know many post-secondary institutions, like KPU, host annual career fairs, hiring events, and volunteer expos? Bring your business card and ready your resumé —these events are a great way to meet with potential employers, ask questions, and learn more about the type of position or industry you’re interested in. In addition, many employers will hire on the spot!

Haven’t found a job that works for you? Try volunteering! While paid work experience is great, volunteering brings with it many unique benefits as well. Getting involved as a volunteer both on- and off-campus is a great way to gain experience, meet other people, and broaden your professional network. Volunteering also allows you to explore different interests without the same level of commitment that employment may require.
