It is never too early or late to have the best year and semester yet! Get on track with TRU.

Happy New Year! You know what that means—a new semester is upon us. Don’t stress, this is your opportunity to shine. Maybe you are following that New Year, New Me attitude, or maybe there are just a few things you would like to improve. Whichever it is, here are 3 important tips from Thompson Rivers University on making this your best year.

1. Set Goals

With a fresh start to a new year and a new semester, now is the time to go after what you want. Setting goals is important to achieving your long-term vision. Start with small realistic goals, write them down and maybe even share them with family or friends. Goal setting will keep you accountable to your own dreams and fuel your motivation to succeed.

2. Stay Organized

Setting goals is easy, achieving them can be the difficult part. Staying organized will help you meet your goals. Whether it’s keeping a calendar, agenda, or journal you will want to keep track of your progress. It is up to you what feels right to stay organized. That might be setting timelines, color coding, to-do lists, reminders on your cellphone, or even making daily schedules. You can do it!

3. Find Balance

Most importantly, don’t stress! Be sure to make time for things you enjoy too. Self-care is essential to staying on track. Having difficulty writing that paper? Can’t focus on studying? Worried about what’s next? Give yourself a break, relax, and change your mindset. You may feel like you’re struggling, but just remember how these tasks will contribute to your overall goals.
