When Humber College Fashion Management student Jennifer Lewis learned about the opportunity to go to London as part of the program, she jumped at the chance.

“I wanted to go on this trip to gain experience from a more international standpoint on the fashion industry. I thought it would also be a great way to explore new opportunities, and network through meeting more people in my program,” Lewis, who is in her third year of the program, said.

Approximately a dozen students from all four years of the program joined in the week-long international learning experience this past May. They visited and had private tours with major fashion houses including Burberry, Topshop and Selfridges.

The visit to Topshop was a highlight for Lewis.

“Getting to do management training with actual Topshop managers at the Topshop headquarters in London was an excellent way to gain insight on the operational, physical, retail and customer service level of the company. It really made me want to work overseas. I also really loved getting the chance to have private tours and meetings with companies such as Burberry, WGSN and Selfridges.”

The fashion management program, she adds, has been a great way to learn in-depth about all facets of the industry.

“I would definitely recommend this program. It is very specialized and gives you a very open opportunity to explore the fashion industry. There are not many programs like this, so anyone with a passion for fashion and strong business mind would enjoy this program.”
