Laurentian University is a comparably small university in the City of Greater Sudbury. The city is situated in Northern Ontario’s unique Precambrian wilderness. The city limits enclose 330 lakes – more than any other municipality in Canada. Among the most notable are Lake Wanapitei, the largest lake in the world completely contained within the boundaries of a single city, and Lake Ramsey, just a few kilometres south of downtown Sudbury. Laurentian is located on three of these freshwater lakes - far removed from the hustle and bustle of the larger centres of southern Ontario.

Laurentian University’s Orientation Week
The university hosts students from more than 64 countries. The new students begin their time at Laurentian on the first day of Orientation Week, available at the start of each semester. The orientation sessions combine outings to a local bank and grocery stores, information sessions, informative distractions, and barbecues. Orientation Week is the opportune time for the Laurentian International staff members to become acquainted with the new students and to speak to them about the various services available within the university and the community.

Canadian Cultural Diversity and Experiences
At Laurentian University, students are encouraged to participate in various events put on by International Student Activity Program (ISAP). Each year students partake in local and out-of town excursions: hockey games, paintball, sleigh rides, ski trips, social nights, video game tournaments, outings to other major cities, wine tours, amusement parks, nature hikes, and lots more!
