The Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) degrees are four-year undergraduate degrees offered jointly by the Faculty of Science and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. You are registered as a Medical Sciences student in Years 1 and 2, and apply to the BMSc Program when you enter Year 3. In the BMSc program, you will study basic medical sciences and focus on all aspects of biology that define and influence the human condition. Emphasis is placed on understanding the normal human condition, mechanisms of current treatment and the search for cures.
Medical Cell Biology consists of the study of humans at the levels of molecules, cells, tissues and organ systems. You'll get to study the anatomical features of all the human organ systems, the relationship of their structure and function, how cells in the human body interact, and the cellular mechanisms governing normal and pathological processes such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and mental disorders.
As a student in Medical Sciences, you'll also have the opportunity to apply to the Science Internship Program. This program facilitates paid and career-related placements so you can work full-time for 8 to 16 months, following the third year of study. As with a traditional co-op degree, your graduation will be delayed by one year while you acquire marketable skills and work experience. • First year Biology, Chemistry and Calculus courses require Biology SBI4U, Chemistry SCH4U, and Calculus and Vectors MCV4U, respectively.
• First year Biology, Chemistry and Calculus courses are required for all modules offered by Medical Sciences
