Description:The Advertising and Marketing Communications program provides students the opportunity to develop their skills for a wide range of communicative professions. Graduates of the program are a hybrid of communication marketing strategists and visual-thinking creative specialists who possess the ability to engage remotely with the latest cloud software while using industry standard devices. You will learn the fundamentals of marketing and sales management, advertising and communication principles, digital media design for traditional, web and mobile platforms, social media campaigning, public relations, and event marketing and entrepreneurship.

Through an experiential learning approach, you will actively engage in a dynamic and innovative learning process, both in and out of the classroom. You will have the opportunity to work consistently with clients and collaborate with industry professionals to enhance communication competencies and learn from real-world experiences; involving both strategy and creative. The emphasis in Conestoga's Advertising program is on the integration of creativity and planning by blending projects and assignments throughout the courses. The integrative teaching approach not only requires you to fully conceptualize ideas, but also to design and develop the creative components using the latest industry software. Print, digital/web and mobile design are all taught through a variety of projects, which later become valuable self-promotion portfolio pieces upon graduation.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older with mature student status, and Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1270).
