Profile

Mid-Ocean School of Media Arts has been providing practical and intensive education in audio production for over 14 years. Founded on the basis of creating an environment which would educate students with the fundamentals of audio production and encourage students to work in a creative and collaborative atmosphere with artists, producers, and recording engineers. We believe that irrelevant of the avenue a student pursues in their career; they require the essential building blocks of capturing sound. Whether they are capturing a musical sound, spoken word, or a sound effect; the discipline of these tasks require grounded knowledge of the fundamentals which define Audio Production as a whole. Our media and equipment may change over time, but the concepts remain the same. MOSMA offers low student to teacher ratios in its courses and it aims for intimate classroom settings where learning is enhanced. In following its mandate of providing optimal learning conditions for its students, MOSMA continues to encompass a variety of teaching and learning strategies within its course structure.

Areas of Expertise

Through our Audio in Media programme, we provide a learning environment that reflects the “real world” by guiding students through a number of initial projects while they study the theories of audio production and then spend the last month of the programme completing recording sessions on their own. During this time, students use the latest in professional audio equipment, a variety of resource materials, and are given the opportunity to meet and work with numerous local musicians, producers, and engineers. Our programme is a six-month intensive and practical learning experience, designed to provide graduates with the vocabulary, primary technical skills, and concepts for a wide range of entry level positions in the audio production field.

Incoming Students

MOSMA training facilities include three production rooms equipped with a full assortment of industry standard equipment as well as a dedicated classroom area and resource area for the theoretical studies of audio production. Our selection of equipment reflects current industry standards thereby allowing our students to train in a "real world" environment.
