Description:This skills-based program offers a unique opportunity for students to prepare for all facets of the powerline occupation. Students will learn the skills required for the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground power-distribution systems through both classroom and significant practical skills development. Two optional co-op terms are incorporated into this unique program and may be included as part of the required benchmark hours and hands-on skills training for journeypersons. Students will be required to work outside in all weather conditions at substantial heights and will also be required to do heavy lifting. They may have the opportunity to complete initial level(s) of apprenticeship trade school at a cost in addition to the regular tuition fees.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older with mature student status, Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1270), and Grade 12 Mathematics, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics for Trades and Apprenticeship (MATH1420).
