Description:The Atlantic Canada Studies program is unique to Saint Mary’s University. Develop a more nuanced understanding of the Atlantic region and its place in the world by pursuing Atlantic Canada Studies. This interdisciplinary program combines history, culture, literature, and other disciplines across the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Science. The program will give you skills in critical and analytical thinking, writing and communications, organization, and the ability to work with complex data.

You may be employed by government, non-governmental organizations, universities, museums and cultural organizations, research companies, or businesses requiring knowledge of Atlantic Canada. Here are some other possible career paths: policy analyst, social worker, political analyst, lawyer, researcher, environmentalist, city/provincial planner, and Intergovernmental affairs consultant.

Students entering directly from high school are required to have completed five academic Grade 12 subjects, including English, with an average grade of 70% and no grade below 60%.

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or CanTEST [min. 4.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80]

If your first language is not English, you must demonstrate that you have the English language skills necessary to be successful in Saint Mary’s University degree programs.
