Description:

Honours Science, an enriched program for talented and passionate students with a keen interest in science, offers many advantages both inside and outside of the classroom. Because Honours Science students take classes as a collective, they tend to progress through course material more efficiently. This frees up class time for innovative and active learning activities that give students a deeper understanding of the material. Course content is not more difficult in Honours Science—rather, it is more exciting and covered in more depth.

Honours Science students have the unique opportunity to participate in research and contribute to science while using cutting edge laboratory equipment. Biology course students clone, sequence and characterize an important gene from a plant species native to Quebec then submit their research results for potential publication in a genetic sequence database. Waves and Modern Physics course students visit the McGill University Photonics Systems laboratories, facilities worth over $10 million.
