Description:

The Slavic Studies program is designed to introduce the student to the vast and varied regions of Eastern Europe. Among these regions are Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Russia, and the Ukraine— all of which played irrevocable roles in shaping modern culture and global politics. Particularly in this era of great transformations, familiarity with the Slavic world will benefit those students interested in journalism, politics, business, government service, languages, and the arts. Additionally, The East European and Slavic Studies Major organizes a study trip to Saint Petersburg, Russia, every year. Students selected for the trip participate in an intensive four-week program of study at the Russian Language and Culture Institute at Saint Petersburg State University.

You can earn a major in Slavic Studies while fulfilling the regular requirements of the program in which you are registered. Without taking any more courses or credits than you normally would, you can simply choose among the courses listed below. All are related to the Slavic world.
