Program Information

School:Western University
Faculty:Science
Degree:Bachelor; Honours
Field of Study:Physics, General
Description:The laws of nature. At Western, you’re surrounded by classmates and professors as passionate about them as you are. Physics and astronomy involves the study of matter, forces, and energy as they relate to the understanding of our environment, from Earth to the distant reaches of the universe. Some physicists work in applied research. Some in engineering, medicine and teaching. Your future after Western could range from working as an industry scientist at a medical imaging company, to becoming a software specialist working with big data, or becoming a doctor.

You can complete this program as a Bachelor or an Honours Bachelor degree. Registration in the honours degree usually begins in the second year, but admission may be gained in the third or fourth year provided you meet requirements.

As a student in Science, you'll also have the opportunity to apply to the Science Internship Program. This program facilitates paid and career-related placements so you can work full-time for 8 to 16 months, following the third year of study. As with a traditional co-op degree, your graduation will be delayed by one year while you acquire marketable skills and work experience. Internship placement opportunities are available in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors - so don't miss out! Click here for more information.
