Description:

The discipline of Social Science focuses on the study and research of human behaviour. The resulting data is evaluated in an effort to understand that behaviour. Students will acquire an understanding of society, research skills, verbal and written communication skills, computer skills as well as group work experience. All of this provides a solid background for future endeavors at the university level.

Students study aspects of social behaviour from different angles and points of view as a means of understanding the complexities of human society. They will also learn to use scientific research and analysis methods, learn how to collect and evaluate data, and develop the ability to report on their findings. Social Science studies provide students with core skills in communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills they can apply to many different disciplines. Graduates of Social Science have a wide range of options open to them. They can pursue university studies in any social science field or discipline such as anthropology, commerce, economics, sociology, geography, history, political science, psychology as well as many others. Social science graduates also study law, journalism, education and social work.
