Description:

By choosing to study kinesiology at Acadia you will learn about human movement from physiological, psychomotor, sociocultural, biomechanical, and pathological perspectives. You will also take related science and arts courses, and can complete a number of certifications during your studies. Kinesiology is ideal if you plan to work in the rehabilitation fields, medicine, the fitness industry, or in teaching and coaching. This degree serves as a gateway to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and medicine, and also to many other health-related professions like speech-language pathology, audiology, nursing, athletic therapy, midwifery, and chiropractics. It also prepares you well for post-baccalaureate study in other areas like exercise physiology, adapted physical activity, biomechanics, and sport psychology.

Applicants are required to have English 12 or English 12: African heritage, and four additional Grade 12 Academic or Advanced courses, including: Mathematics 12 or Precalculus 12. Minimum overall average of 75%.
Test Scores:
  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90]
Application Notes : Since English is the language of instruction at Acadia University, candidates must be able to communicate competently in English both orally and in writing, and students whose first language is not English may be required to present the result of the TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL or PTE Academic. Acadia's English requirements are as follows: TOEFL - 90 IBT with no subtest score below 20; IELTS - 6.5 with no subtest score below 6.0; CAEL - 70 with no subtest score below 60; PTE Academic - 61 with no subtest score below 60; Cambridge English: Advanced - 176 with no subtest score below 169; or MELAB - 80.
