Career Description

Administrators in post-secondary education and vocational training see to the business operations of colleges, career colleges, universities and other post secondary institutions.

Duties May Include

Administrators plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate academic/registration activities in their area of specialty.

Faculty administrators/deans plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the academic/related activities of a college/university. They recommend/approve faculty appointments. They recommend curriculum revisions, additions/scheduling, and direct research and curriculum development.

Registrars plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the registration activities and academic records systems of a college/university. They review registration statistics and develop policies with faculty officials.

Administrators of vocational training schools plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the activities of a private college or institute specializing in trades, technology or business. They develop curriculum and consult with regulatory bodies to ensure conformance to provincial/territorial standards. They may also control budgets and recruit/hire teachers and staff.
