At Lakehead University's Barrie STEM Hub, study engineering or computer science in a high-tech, hands-on environment in the heart of Barrie’s vibrant waterfront district--and step into careers that are in demand.
It's just different here. The STEM Hub is a purpose-built learning space focused on what matters most: innovation, mentorship, and real-world experience. At Lakehead's STEM Hub, our engineering and computer science programs are built around what employers need today and tomorrow. From computer science and robotics to systems thinking and innovation management, students graduate with in-demand, future-ready skills.
The Barrie STEM Hub is currently under construction at 24 Maple Avenue, in the heart of Barrie's waterfront district. Opening in fall 2026, the new facility will offer lake access, nearby cafés and restaurants, and strong public transit connections, including direct GO Transit service to the Greater Toronto Area.
The Hub will share its building with a Regional Innovation Centre that supports Ontario entrepreneurs and innovators. Together, these co-located spaces will create an environment where students, faculty, and industry partners can collaborate on real-world challenges and bring new ideas to life.
