A fully accredited public university located in beautiful Abbotsford, British Columbia, the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is recognized internationally for teaching quality, student success, and an excellent learning environment. With over 15,000 students studying from around the world, UFV offers you learning opportunities that will ensure you are job-ready and equipped to make an impact when you graduate.

UFV is large enough to offer variety, and yet our small class sizes allow students to get to know their instructors and learn in a hands-on environment. We offer more than 100 programs, including two master's degrees, 17 bachelor's degrees, majors, minors, and extended minors in more than 30 subject areas. The strong Cooperative (Co-op) Education program offers students in several disciplines the option of completing a diploma or degree that incorporates paid work experience in their fields.

Areas of Expertise

UFV offers a wide variety of programs suitable to all students. UFV offers diplomas or degrees in Business, Science and Technology, Graphic Design and Visual Arts, Computer Information Systems, Psychology and Social Sciences, Social Work and Human Services, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation degree, the first of its kind in Canada. UFV is known for its commitment to student success through excellence in teaching and the delivery of all programs by friendly personable instructors in small classes.The Co-op Education program is designed to enhance future job prospects for students by formally integrating full-time study terms with full-time paid study related work terms. Students earn their academic credentials and gain years of valuable work experience by the time they have completed their programs.

UFV Baker House Residence is located on the Abbotsford campus. Each suite at Baker House Residence has two separate bedrooms. The shared common area includes a mini kitchen and bathroom. This is a non-smoking building.

Career Planning

The UFV Career Centre offers experiential learning opportunities and career planning resources through programs in co-operative education, work-study and career services.

Sports

The University of the Fraser Valley athletic department features 140 student-athletes participating on teams across six sports. The Cascades men's and women's basketball, soccer and wrestling teams compete in the Canada West conference of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). The UFV men's and women's volleyball and golf teams complete in the PacWest conference of the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA). UFV also competes in men's and women's rowing. We invite you to cheer on the Cascades by attending home games, following along on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Flickr), and even becoming a team sponsor! Activities

Learning and leadership are not spectator sports. In order to help students develop leadership skills, Student Life has organized various programs and opportunities a part of the Student Engagement Initiatives. These include the following: Student Life Ambassadors; Student Engagement Team; Retreats & Conferences; and The Standout Magazine.

Clubs

At UFV, you are part of a welcoming campus community.There are plenty of opportunities to meet new people while cheering on the Cascades, attending a cultural event or talk,or joining one of 65+ student-led clubs and associations. Get in touch with the Student Union Society and start a club yourself!

Information Technology

Each main campus has open computer labs for UFV students to utilize. The University of the Fraser Valley provides over four hundred computer systems to assist students in their educational process. The Abbotsford campus is largely wired allowing Wi-Fi internet access from personal laptops (after logging into the network).

Cultural

UFV is committed to the internationalization of the institution and through the Internationalization Committee encourages and supports programs, activities, and events that promote internationalization. UFV hosts 2000 international students each semester and supports student and faculty exchanges, field schools, international development projects, and international practicum and co-operative work experiences.

Special Services

All facilities are wheelchair accessible and the Disability Resource Centre offers support services, equipment and program planning, and implementation to students with disabilities.

Affiliated Institutions

UFV has established international ties with institutions in China, India, Japan, Mexico, and the United States. In Canada, UFV has established partnerships or links with the Career Technical Centre, Coastal Aviation, and some British Columbia universities.

International Involvement

UFV has established partnerships with over 80 of the top academic institutions worldwide. Field schools are a great opportunity for students who are looking to gain an international experience, but are short on time. Previous field schools have taken place in: Washington, DC; Paris, France; Tofino, British Columbia; Reykjavík, Iceland; and London, UK.

Services for students include counselling and academic advising, writing, math and science centres for students needing extra help, a women's centre, a peer helper program, a financial aid office, an ombudsperson, instructional media services (for audio-visual needs), a library, a human rights and conflict resolution advisor network, and a disability resource centre.
