Prairie Bible Institute, home of Canada's oldest Bible College, is a private institution that specializes in providing degree, diploma, and certificate programs in the arts with concentrations in theology and biblical studies. From humble beginnings in a one room Alberta schoolhouse to its current campus in Three Hills, Prairie also offers a number of its programs through distance education.

Areas of Expertise

Prairie Bible Institute is comprised of three separate colleges: Prairie Bible College, Prairie College of Applied Arts & Technology, and Prairie School of Mission Aviation. Prairie Bible College focuses primarily on ministry preparation, offering accredited four-year Bachelor of Arts degrees in a variety of areas including Ministry, Theology, Intercultural Studies, and Performing Arts and Worship. Also offered is two-year Associate of Arts programs and one-year certificates.

The above prices are for a double occupancy room; single occupancy's are also available. Meal plans are $2,800.00 per year, wireless Internet access is available for $50.00 per semester and there is a fitness fee of $50.00 per semester.

Incoming Students

Prairie Preview is a program designed to provide an overview of the school. Each day is filled with activities to help students decide if Prairie is a good fit for their educational futures. Activities include tours of the campus, introductions to faculty, interaction with Prairie students, a taste of chapel, classes and informative sessions that will answer students' questions about programs, admissions, financial aid, and more. Students also have the option to spend a night or two in the dorms.

Career Planning

One of the goals of Prairie's Student Success Office is to offer insight and guidance within the realm of academic and vocational goals. The Career Development Office offers a Career Placement Centre, online vocational guide, and a list of employers currently seeking students for ministry or secular positions. The College maintains its own online job bank and alumni report 90% employment within six months of graduation.

Activities

When completed, the new Maxwell Centre will be a 75,000 square foot building housing a 1,200-seat auditorium, a 200 seat multipurpose hall, and a multipurpose performance space. The completed phase one includes a student services centre, business offices, specialized training space for the new Prairie College of Applied Arts & Technology and a Starbucks coffee counter. The second phase will include a variety of functions including a multipurpose worship auditorium, performance chapel, black box performance space, specialized music training facilities, and a multipurpose atrium that will become "the place to be" on campus.

Information Technology

All students have access to Prairie's own e-mail service and an online question form is available, which links users with IT staff. Wireless Internet is available to residents for a nominal fee.

Cultural

Creative pursuits include musical or dramatic performances. The College hosts a number of conferences, as well as various camps aimed at teens, prospective students, and older adults.

Special Services

If a student is having trouble, there are a number of resources available. For example, tutoring is available through resources within the Student Union and Student Development Offices throughout the college year.

The Prairie College of Applied Arts & Technology partners with Bow Valley College, Olds College, NAIT, and Lethbridge College.

Campus Tour

Previews for the Prairie College of Applied Arts & Technology begins on May 9. The final Preview Day before the fall semester is June 2 and is open to future students interested in all programs. Personalized visits are also available. The Admissions Office is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. all year round (except holidays).
