As members of Havergal's Boarding School, boarders benefit from the opportunity to gain independence and learn valuable life lessons. Girls are prepared for university life and beyond by learning self-sufficiency, as well as independent decision-making and time management skills. Boarders from many countries share cultural experiences, developing a broader perspective that serves students well in today's global economy. But boarding is not just about learning: it is also a chance to cultivate new relationships and forge friendships that stand the test of time and transcend geographic boundaries. The Boarding School is for students in grades 9 to 12.

Career Planning

The aim of Havergal's Guidance program is to help students acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to know and appreciate themselves, relate effectively to others, develop appropriate educational plans and explore career alternatives. This aim is achieved through individual and small group counselling and through a comprehensive guidance curriculum in every grade level. The goal is to have students begin the process of personal exploration and develop skills and resources for life-long investigation and career decision-making.

Sports

The co-curricular athletic opportunities at Havergal are designed to encourage a life-long enjoyment of physical activity as well as the development of sportsmanship, cooperation and leadership skills. We offer a wide range of athletic activities to appeal to all students and skill levels. We believe that competitive teams are important for those girls who are skilled in a particular sport and can represent the school at a competitive level in the external league of independent schools. We emphasize the importance of mental and physical fitness working together in achieving one's best. Our 50,000 square-foot Athletic Centre provides expanded facilities for our extensive programs. There are also many opportunities to be active in the intramural program (organized by the sports council and sport prefects) and skill development clinics facilitated by sports specialists.

Activities

The Havergal program is enriched by a wide range of co-curricular activities designed to meet the interests of every student. Our program focuses on the development of the individual as a whole and supports all-round education. Students pursue their individual talents and interests through outstanding music, performing and visual arts programs, high-calibre athletics activities and participation in clubs and school life.

There are nine wireless laptop carts for students to use during classroom activities.

International Involvement

Havergal's Global Experience Program exposes students to opportunities to engage in local and international initiatives. Through local and international experiences, students will develop belief in their own abilities and in their capability to learn, acquire new skills and adapt to new situations. These experiences range from our after-school partnership programming to student-initiated partnerships that allow our students to share in the lives of young people in Toronto and around the world. Our programs seek to expose Havergal students to the perspectives and lives of others, enable students to engage in real-world problem solving and build direct and mutual partnerships to address a shared purpose.
