Profile

Queen's Theological College traces its origin to 1841 when the Presbyterian Church in Canada obtained a Royal Charter to establish Queen's University. There were 11 students when the University opened its doors in 1842. The principal was a Presbyterian minister and he also headed the Faculty of Theology. Because of the continued growth of the various departments, it was decided in 1911 to separate the Faculty of Theology from the University. On April 1, 1912, Queen's Theological College was created by an Act of Parliament with its own Board of Management.
