Located in the Kootenay Rocky Mountains of southeastern BC, we offer you lifestyle and learning opportunities to match our spectacular setting. Our Main Campus and Gold Creek Campus are in Cranbrook. We also have regional campuses in Creston, Fernie, Golden, Invermere and Kimberley, which offer unique programs and courses. Smaller class sizes, personalized instruction, up-to-date technology, great support services and professional, friendly staff who are dedicated to student success make the College of the Rockies the best place to live, learn and play!

Areas of Expertise

College of the Rockies offers excellent instruction in all of its programs, but it is best known for Health Care, Adventure Tourism, University Studies, Trades, online learning, and Business programs.

On Campus Housing

The Residence is a secure building with 16 living units, (each living unit has 6 private bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen and living room), for a total capacity of 96.

Off Campus Housing

Finding housing that is safe, affordable, and convenient is important to students attending the college from outside our local area. Our Off-Campus Student Housing Registry is a first point of contact between students and potential renters and landlords.

Career Planning

Planning your education can be a challenging process. Educational Advisors are available to answer questions you may have about your future education. Educational Advisors can help you at all steps of your education, whether you are just curious about starting school, selecting your courses or close to finishing your selected program.

Sports

The College gymnasium is home to many Intramural sports and events for students and community users including indoor soccer, badminton, volleyball and basketball. College of the Rockies is proud to be the home of the men's and women's Avalanche volleyball teams. Members of the PACWEST, the Avalanche intercollegiate volleyball programs compete with other colleges and universities across the province, vying for both team and individual titles.

Activities

Our Student Life and Athletics team is dedicated to enhancing your entire experience by offering a wide variety of activities and events throughout the academic year. Whether it's a ski day, a co-ed basketball league or an Avalanche volleyball match, we have something for everyone. Throughout the semester, various fitness classes like Zumba and Yoga are offered with reduced rates for our students. Prefer to head outside? Cross-country skis and snowshoes are available for you to rent.

Clubs

Information Technology

Student services include free Internet and e-mail including wireless access on campus, and easy access to computers and computer technology. The College of the Rockies has continually been ranked high in the province by its students for access to technology.

Affiliated Institutions

We're proud to be a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. AASHE is an association of colleges and universities that are working to create a sustainable future. To further its mission of empowering higher education to lead the sustainability transformation, AASHE provides resources, professional development, and a network of support to enable institutions of higher education to model sustainability in all areas, from governance and operations to education and research.

International Involvement

Over the past 10 years, the International Education and Development Department has deployed over 140 students and graduates and over 60 employees for internship positions, practicum placements, study opportunities and consultancies in Africa, South America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The International Education and Development Department manages international contracts and partnership projects that have included two successful DFATD Canada funded Public Engagement Fund projects, several multi-year Development projects in Kenya, Ecuador, and Tanzania and numerous federally-funded internship agreements.

A visit to College of the Rockies will make your decision process a little easier. During a visit, you can: • talk with students to find out what College of the Rockies is really like • tour Purcell House, our student residence • explore and experience our spectacular Rocky Mountain setting • get answers to your questions during a session with an education advisor Come and see us in person for a real College of the Rockies experience.
