Orientation is a year round program offering students the opportunity to participate in academic, community, and social events, including Shinerama, a large fundraiser for the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
The Career Development Centre offers experienced career advisors to help you explore your interests, values, skills and personality, and will explain your test results. The Workplace Transition Consultant helps students prepare for co-op terms, internships, and graduate job searches. Students have access to on campus jobs, a job search tool specifically for Georgian students and Alumni, job search coaches, career fairs, Canada Career Week activities, current labour market information, graduate placement, and career assessment. Free faxing and photocopying is available to education, career, and job search activities.
Intramural: Baseball, Basketball (three on three), and Volleyball are all co-ed. Hockey is either three on three or five on five.
Georgian College has a large fitness centre with cardio equipment and free weights, an indoor climbing wall, women and men's whirlpools and steam rooms, an indoor running / jogging track, personal training, and fitness / group fitness classes.
Clubs include the International Students Association, the Drama Club, the Lesser Known Gems Film Club, Amnesty International, and the Grizzly Steps Dance Workshop. Any Georgian student and employee may start a club.
Residences have network Internet access. Georgian College owns and operated the Bits & Bytes Computer Store, which sells software, computers, printers, and accessories, with all profits being reinvested into the College.
The Georgian Eye is the campus newspaper, published monthly and distributed across campus. Student submissions are welcome.
All Georgian College students with disabilities are eligible for accommodations and support services. The Georgian International Centre is located at the Barrie Campus. Its primary mission is to develop international activities and relationships that serve the development needs of international partners. The Centre has been involved in international education for the past 14 years in a variety of projects with institutions, the Canadian International Development Agency, various banks, and several private sector companies. On some contracts, Georgian forms consortia with other colleges or training partners. Project work includes both student and staff exchanges, applied research, technology transfer, and a wide range of train the trainer and human resource development workshops.
