Each year, we help more than 12,000 learners reach their goals at our downtown Calgary campus and at more than 20 locations throughout southern Alberta. Bow Valley College learners come from all parts of the world and all walks of life, ours is a truly international and diverse campus. Our programs include one year certificates and two year diplomas in business, administration, health care, and human services. We also offer programs in English as a Second Language, high school upgrading, and a wide range of continuing education options. BVC currently has no on site student residences.
Bow Valley College takes pride in our campus services. For our students, they’re an important part of succeeding in their field of study. Our services include counselling services, health services, academic accommodation for learners with disabilities, learning resource services, a bookstore, a cafeteria, and many more.
Our counsellors at Bow Valley College can help you with educational, career, and personal concerns, and explores accommodations and funding for special needs. The Bow Valley College Student Association (BVCSA) is a body representing student concerns within the College, community, and province. They maintain an office on the second floor of the Main Campus where all Student Association Members are welcome.
The Students’ Association offers students a number of services including student health and dental, support for extracurricular activities, The Voice available online on the Web site, the student handbook, and other services. Cultural, social, and recreational activities are scattered throughout the year to promote collegiality, and to provide students with educational and fun experiences. The Association also represents students to the College committees such as The Board of Governors, Academic Council, Students Awards, and more. The BVCSA is always looking for volunteers. It’s a great way to meet new people and learn more about the College.
Bow Valley College has state of the art computer and computer labs, as well as computer managed learning. All students have access to Internet and e-mail.
Bow Valley College takes special care to accommodate those students with special needs. The College is fully wheelchair accessible and we offer counselling services, health services, and learner support services for all students with disabilities. Bow Valley College's learner support services are available to students. It is a fully integrated service area to help students in their studies. It offers support via technology, tutors, and resources. In addition, students can access academic support, computers, testing facilities, workshops, and orientations. The area has 48 computer stations and a variety of resources available including videos, CD ROM’s, print references, and direct access to the Calgary Public Library.
The University of Lethbridge
Located in downtown, Bow Valley College is a widely recognized public institution and the largest English as a Second Language provider in Calgary. Our teachers have a reputation for excellence in teaching and for accommodating individual student needs. We have some of the finest ESL programs in Canada:
- International ESL: Eight weeks of full-time intensive program offering nine different levels from basic to advanced.
English for Business: Learn Business English in a professional setting on business meeting, telephone conversation, customer service, and job interview skills.
English for Academic Purpose: EAP is the highest level of our ESL program. Students who graduate with a mark "B" can continue to study in the academic programs at Bow Valley College and with a mark “B+” also can continue the academic programs at SAIT Polytechnique and DeVry University.
International Academic Preparation (IAP): Suitable for international students with an upper intermediate to advanced knowledge of English. We have IAP for Business, Healthcare, and Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Students graduating from these courses will have professional English knowledge in the area of their study and a sufficient IELTS result to either continually study at Bow Valley College or enter other post-secondary institutions across Canada. Pre-assessment is required for this program.

Student Services: Discounted memberships at a nearby fitness centre, counsellors and nurses, cafeteria and cafe lounge, tutors and learning support, and computers and computer assisted learning. Our programs run on full-time, part-time, self delivery, or home study basis.
