Guru Digital Arts is a fully licensed private college providing current, relevant, and highly specialized education to students seeking to obtain the highest calibre of education in the area of digital media and the digital arts.
Centrally located in the heart of downtown Edmonton, Guru Digital Arts College offers a highly focused six month accelerated Digital Media Producer Diploma Program. Our class sizes are small, allowing for more personalized, intimate instruction by our highly qualified and dedicated instructors.
The Digital Media Producer Diploma Program is comprehensive training for the print and Web industry. You'll learn to be proficient with both Mac and PC software and work with an iMac 24" computer that is dedicated to your study 24/7. You'll learn the leading Adobe software, Internet techniques that are industry standard, and fundamental content creation including basic drawing, photography, videography, and creative project management. You'll have 'mini projects' where you practice your skills and are assessed on what you have learned and you'll be given Web space, time, and assistance with developing a Web based portfolio.
It's recommended to consult local Edmonton listings online or bi-weekly printed guides for accessible housing. Because of our convenient central location, public transportation is recommended as well. Guru Digital Arts College is closest to the Central LRT station and numerous major bus lines run frequently on all roads nearby.
Please contact Guru for information for career planning information in the field of digital media.
Students get their own computer to use in the lab, which has all the necessary software and runs both Windows and OSX. Software and operating systems are updated as new versions are released or as industry adapts. Student portfolios are hosted online with the Guru server for six months after graduation. All students will have a Gmail account so they may access the Google Guru class calendar.
Guru Digital Arts College is wheelchair accessible and special or customized equipment may be purchased by students with disabilities to use if needed to participate in the classroom.
Evening tour and information sessions are held at the College for those who aren't available during regular class time hours. Daytime weekday tours are more popular as you may request the time that is most suitable for you and have one on one Q&A with a Guru staff member for as long as required. To inquire about the next scheduled information sessions or to book a daytime meeting, call (780) 429-4878 or toll free 1-877-429-4878.
Printers, scanners, digital cameras, mini DV cameras, and a Canon GL2 are available for students to use. Other equipment such as microphones, lighting, a light box for photos of objects or products, and tripods are also available. Students will be required to bring their own earphones and may be allowed to bring external equipment to use in the classroom if permission is granted by the Program Director.
