Requirements for Canadian Students

Bachelor (180 ECTs):

Academic Requirements:

  • General or subject-related secondary school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Don't have a secondary school diploma? Get in touch with our Study Advisory Team.

English Level:

  • Proof of English skills.
  • If English is your native language or you graduated from an English-speaking school/university, you do not have to prove your English skills.

Master (60 ECTs):

Academic Requirements:

  • Completed undergraduate degree (180 ECTS) from an officially recognised university.
  • Final grade of at least "Satisfactory" or Grade C equivalent in your undergraduate studies.

Work Experience:

  • At least one year of qualified work experience before the start of the IU Online Master programme (achieved after previous studies).

English Level:

  • Proof of English skills.
  • If English is your native language or you graduated from an English-speaking school/university, you do not have to prove your English skills.

Some programs, including Master of Science - Artificial Intelligence, Master of Engineering Management, Master Information Technology Management, and Master Data Science, have additional requirements. See their program pages for details.

Master (60 or 90 ECTs):

Academic Requirements:

  • Completed undergraduate degree (210 ECTS for the 60 ECTS variant, 180 ECTS for the 90 ECTS variant) from an officially recognised university.
  • Final grade of at least "Satisfactory" or grade C equivalent in your undergraduate studies.

Work Experience:

  • At least one year of qualified work experience before the start of the IU Online Master programme (achieved after previous studies).
  • At least two years' qualified work experience completed by the end of the Master programme.
    • To start a 90-ECTS MBA, you can “bridge” 30 ECTS by demonstrating 1 additional year of professional experience. This means you can access the programme already with 180 ECTS credits.
    • To start a 60-ECTS MBA (One-Year MBA), you can “bridge” up to 60 ECTS by demonstrating 2 additional years of professional experience. This means you can access the One-Year programme already with 180 ECTS (if you prove one additional year of work experience) or 210 ECTS (if you can prove two additional years) from your previous studies.

Master (120 ECTs):

Academic Requirements:

  • Completed degree from a public or officially recognised university/higher education institution in relevant field.
  • At least a "Satisfactory" or Grade C equivalent earned in your previous degree.
  • Your undergraduate degree should be worth 180 ECTS credits.
