Requirements for Canadian Students

All applicants must successfully complete high school (Grade 12 or GED 12) or be a mature student of 20 years of age as of the start date of the program and who are Canadian citizens, landed immigrants, or foreign students with a valid student visa. Since English is the language of instruction at The Art Institute of Vancouver, all applicants must possess adequate knowledge of English as a prerequisite to admission. Regardless of country of origin or citizenship status, all applicants whose primary language is not English are required to submit with their application proof of English competency. A minimum TOEFL score of 480 (on the paper-based TOEFL or 157 on the computer-based TOEFL) is required. Applicants may be asked to complete a personal or telephone interview with the appropriate academic manager.

Further, Each applicant must submit a 250 word typed personal essay detailing a career direction incorporating your education at The Art Institute of Vancouver. Take this opportunity to highlight any extracurricular activities relating to the program to which you are applying. Written communication skills are reviewed at this time. For students seeking advanced standing in selected programs, a portfolio must be submitted for review. Contact an Assistant Director of Admissions for a complete list of criteria.

International students may apply for any program at The Art Institute of Vancouver. Prices are in Canadian dollars and are subject to change. Tuition is GST exempt and quoted per program. International applicants must enclose a completed enrolment agreement as well as a non-refundable $50.00 application fee, which may be paid by Visa, MasterCard, or Bank Draft only. No cheques please. Tuition is payable in Canadian dollars. For international students, the fee for a student visa is approximately $125.00. All programs have recommended minimum TOEFL/TOEIC scores.
