Are you eligible?
Must be a full-time/part-time student in Canada. For those participants which are outside our operating areas (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal) there will be adjusted requirements. See FAQ on our website.
What are we looking for?
We need you to come up with a marketing plan and collect e-waste in your area. You will manage every detail from the planning and promoting to the execution! We want to see how creative students can get with marketing the event and reaching out to your community and local businesses. How will you implement your ideas to raise awareness and get your networks involved? After you have followed through with your collections, the team at ERA will evaluate your work after the deadline and pick the winner!
What items do we accept?
Cell phones, tablets, laptops, computers, servers, monitors, networking equipment, gaming consoles and similar electronics. **No household or personal electronics, and NO TVs!** Please reach out to us directly if you're unsure.
Where should you promote this event?
Promote this event in your neighbourhood, at your school, at a business, in a community centre, your local mall, online, or an idea of your own.
When should you start?
This competition will start on January 1st, 2024, and runs until September 1st, 2024. Give us at least 4 weeks advance notice of where and when you plan to host your collection event.
How will ERA help me at the collection event?
They will bring a collection cage and banner at the start of your event and pick up everything once it's over. ERA will most likely have staff onsite with you along with our truck for the duration especially if it’s on a weekend. Any additional signage or marketing material made by you is encouraged to include if you want to personalize your event.
Important reminder!
The e-waste collection process is the most important part of this contest! By all means, be sure to apply for the scholarship, but please recognize that collecting electronic recycling and e-waste in your community is the focus of the program. The more discarded devices you collect, the better your chances at receiving the grand prize!
