Bachelor of Arts - Global Social Justice

Prairie College

Faculty:Bible College
Degree:Bachelor
Field of Study:International/Global Studies
Length:4 Year(s)

Description:

Prairie's Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies — Global Social Justice (GSJ) major provides a firm grounding in the theories, methods, and practice of social justice involvements, providing the student with the ideal combination of knowledge and skills to successfully continue to master's level study or obtain entry-level employment in this sector.

A highlight of this program is a 9-month internship that will lead you to at least 10 countries and 4 continents. For the first two months of travel with your fellow students, you will observe and at times participate in ministry with orphans, street kids, prisoners, AIDS victims and former child soldiers. Church planting in a creative access nation, or a post-Christian area, and anti-human trafficking initiatives will also be on the agenda. Subsequently, you will immerse yourself in a social justice six-month internship with a non-government organization (NGO) at a location of your own choosing. You will work and study under the leadership of local mentors as well as study the local language. After the internship, you will join your cohort and travel to Africa to observe what God is doing there. Throughout the entire nine months, you will work towards completing twenty-seven credits of coursework. The countries may change from year to year. Flexibility is expected.
