Description:The art of putting thought into words is one of God’s great gifts to us, and a reflection of His own amazing creativity. At Redeemer, you will meet people who share your love of language and literature, and are committed to using these gifts to honour the Lord who has given them. At Redeemer, you have the option of a literature concentration studying from the historical beginnings of English literature in the 9th century up to the present day. Some of our most popular courses are in Children’s Literature, Literature and Environment, British Novel, Medieval Literature, Shakespeare, World Literature Written in English, Canadian Historical Fiction, and C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Several of our courses are also cross-listed with the Theatre Arts Department so you can have the option to focus on dramatic literature.

Applicants from Ontario are required to have successfully completed Grade 12 U English, and five additional Grade 12 U or M level courses. To view admission requirements for applicants from other provinces, please visit:

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 570] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]

Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following: TOEFL test score of 570, IELTS test score of 6.5, or CAEL test score of 70. Students who have studied for the last three years in a school where English is the primary spoken/written language may be exempt from language requirements.
