Description:

Our BA(Hons) Education in Professional Practice allows you to earn and learn, topping up existing credits to gain a full honours degree. The course is available to those working in education and related areas, including lecturers, unqualified teachers, teaching assistants, education welfare officers, family support workers and mentors, as well as those in alternative provision such as pupil referral units (PRUs), prison settings and the youth sector. If you hold qualifications from overseas, you may also wish to explore this route to a UK degree. Following graduation, you will be equipped to progress to a PGCE or Master's, or you may want to use the skills and knowledge you have gained in a more senior and responsible professional role.

You will work individually and in collaboration with fellow students, writing assignments and reflective journals, giving short presentations, developing a portfolio of completed tasks and conducting small enquiries. Among wide-ranging topics, you might examine innovative curricula, develop ways to support learners with emotional barriers to learning, explore youth and community learning and investigate ideas for teaching and learning in a changing world. You will also gain excellent research and independent study skills. All tasks, including the dissertation, are work based and will draw on your experience of working in education.
