Description:

With climate change high on the political agenda, governments, science and industry are keen to find new ways to mitigate risk. As resources become scarce, making good use of existing resources through effective energy management is also vital. As a result, there is growing demand for skilled professionals who understand how best to manage our energy, environment and resources.

This course examines the impact of people on the environment as a result of their demand and use of global resources. It will also help you develop the skills and knowledge to identify and evaluate sustainable approaches to resource management. The main themes include water, energy, climate change / global warming and environmental hazards. In your final year, you can choose to specialise in renewable energy, water futures, or develop a broad training in energy management. Alongside, you will develop analytical, problem solving, decision making, communication and business skills preparing you for the workplace.

Students who do a work placement are more likely to graduate with a better degree and get higher quality work on graduation. So as well as helping hone your professional skills, industry knowledge and network, a placement will make you highly employable on graduation. Where possible, we arrange initiatives such as Green Internships schemes so you get the chance to gain valuable work experience in your summer holidays. We also encourage you to apply your learning on work placements. Past students have worked on ISO accreditation for Porsche and energy management for EDF and the leisure sector.
