Description:

We offer this non-standard option to individuals who qualify for advanced standing in much of the first-year curriculum. The one-year accelerated option provides the opportunity to complete the diploma program and qualify for provincial massage therapy certification exams in 12 months. Eligibility is decided on the basis of a prior learning assessment conducted by the Assistant Director of Education and acceptance is case-by-case. Students who qualify for this option typically have kinesiology or other qualifying degrees or are foreign-trained health professionals whose education and credentials are a good match.

One-year accelerated students complete a 10-week summer bridging session that focuses on massage skills and other first-year program elements missing in their prior learning. The Summer Bridge prepares them to enter second year in September as standard program students. While in second year, “Bridgers” continue to meet once a week with instructors to finalize coverage of first-year content. Throughout their time at the school, education team members check in with the one-year accelerated students to ensure that their bridging preparation and transition into the standard program are proceeding smoothly.
