Program Information

School:The University of British Columbia - Vancouver
Degree:Bachelor; Co-op
Field of Study:Acting
Description:The BFA in Acting is a professional actor training program supplemented by a solid grounding in the history of theatre, while also offering many of the benefits of a liberal arts education.

The beginning year of the BFA focuses on the development of the actor's instrument through scene study, improvisation, storytelling, movement and voice. The intermediate year includes the study of styles, heightened language, and individual artistic development through scene study and monologues. The final year includes screen acting, auditioning, voice and movement tutorials, creating solo pieces, singing, and stage combat. Courses are fully integrated with Theatre at UBC productions and students work on shows in cooperation with the faculty and professional staff. The Co-op Program allows you to earn a salary while gaining relevant work experience to your studies. After entering the program in Year 3, you can alternate four-or eight-months of full-time work with your academic terms.
