The BA (Hons) Conservation of Cultural Heritage degree offers opportunities to gain extensive, hands-on experience working on a range of historic materials provided by museums and private collections. Contact with sector professionals and visiting lecturers will also provide students with the opportunity to build contacts in the field. Throughout the degree, students can work on cultural heritage objects and will have the chance to become familiar with different materials, time periods, and collections, with the aim of learning to place objects within their historical context.
The course aims to equip graduates with the transferable skills to enable them to progress into a range of careers in the conservation and heritage industries. Links with museums and agencies around the world have opened up opportunities for graduates to progress into roles in prominent institutions, such as the Historic Royal Palaces, the National Trust, English Heritage, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Raffles Museum, Singapore. Some graduates choose to go on to undertake further study at master's or doctoral level. |
