Program Information

School:University of Lincoln
Faculty:School of Health and Social Care
Degree:Bachelor; Honours
Field of Study:Social Work
Description:The Social Work degree at Lincoln combines rigorous academic study with extensive practice-based experience, aiming to equip you with the personal and professional attributes required for a career in social work. Social work is a uniquely demanding but rewarding profession. Those who work in the sector have the opportunity to change people’s lives for the better. They empower individuals and promote social justice by intervening at the points at which people, policy, and society interact. Social workers must make sound judgements, often in conditions of tension, complexity, and uncertainty. These decisions can have profound implications for the individuals, groups, and communities they aim to support.

Students have the opportunity to learn how to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders and are encouraged to see social work within its broader, multidisciplinary context. Practice placements form a key component of this program and you will have the opportunity to benefit from the School's well-established links with regional and national agencies. This course is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Successful completion of the degree qualifies a graduate to practice as a social worker and to apply to join the HCPC register.
