Description:

The Diploma of Vocational Studies (D.V.S.) in accounting has a duration of 1350 hours full time and comprises a 120 hour internship in the industry. Individuals in an Accounting department are typically responsible for preparing and processing bills, invoices, accounts payable and receivables, budgets and other financial records.



This program provides students with the necessary accounting skills and knowledge for entry level accounting and payroll positions in both small and large organizations. Areas of study include accounting principles and practice, computerized accounting, managerial accounting, payroll administration, spreadsheets and data management.

    To be eligible for admission to the Accounting program, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
    Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent.
    Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned the Secondary IV credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning.
    Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the general development test, or recognition of equivalent learning.
    Persons having earned Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister and who will continue their general education courses concurrently with their vocational training in order to obtain the credits they are missing among the following: Secondary IV language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister.
