Description:

The Aboriginal Education Support Workers (AESW) diploma is designed to prepare you with the knowledge and skills to better support Aboriginal students, their families and school communities in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner. THE AESW program includes 19 academic, cultural and applied courses, and two practicum experiences. With an AESW diploma you may gain employment within an elementary, middle or high school or may choose to continue on to Bachelor programs in Education, Arts, General Studies or Social Work.

Prerequisites:

Secondary school graduation or equivalent with a minimum 65% in either English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12, ENGL 090, or equivalent
Additional Admission Requirements:
    A current immunization record and negative TB skin test, a criminal record check, and a signed COTR self-disclosure form are required.
