Description:

Students who have studied social work may work in: educational systems, child and family agencies, juvenile court systems, hospitals and other health care facilities, mental health programs residential facilities, substance abuse treatment or prevention programs, welfare agencies, gerontology, or child or adult day care. Employers in human services organizations throughout the region have a positive view of graduates from SVSU. B.S.W. graduates are eligible for the Social Work Technician Registration Credential as defined in the State of Michigan Occupational Code, and conferred by the Social Work Board of Examiners, Bureau of Licensing and Regulation.

The Social Work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduation from a CSWE-accredited program allows students to seek advanced standing in many Master of Social Work programs, and is required by increasing numbers of employers in human services professions.
