With increasing public interest in food and health, human nutrition is a dynamic field with new career opportunities emerging. StFX Human Nutrition students graduate with a strong scientific background in foods and nutrition, combined with social science perspectives, communication skills and understandings of ways to effect individual and social change. You will be well equipped to assist individuals, groups, and the population-at-large to achieve their food, nutrition, and health-related goals. Under the guidance of talented faculty, you will learn through theory–based courses and experiential learning, such as lab and community-based assignments and Service Learning.

The Co-operative Education Program offered in conjunction with the Gerald Schwartz School of Business offers another learning alternative for HNU students. These are normally five-year programs leading to degrees with co-operative education designations. The program assists students who are interested in career options that complement the human nutrition degree. A combination of professional development training and practical work experience enables students to develop the knowledge and skills they have acquired in their degree program. The co-op education graduate with a HNU degree will be prepared to work within the food industry (product development and evaluation, food safety, etc.), public relations, consumer affairs, or marketing with various employers including not-for-profits, industry or government and other related areas of practice.
