Description:This one-year Ontario College Certificate program assists students to develop their awareness of the environment and of the world around them. Students have the opportunity to examine and debate environmental issues of global, national, and local importance through the study of topics including environmental citizenship, environmental ethics, sustainable development and ecology. Students develop strong study skills and earn credits that can be transferred to other College programs. Graduates are prepared to meet the eligibility requirements for a number of Algonquin College programs including: Forestry Technician, Environmental Technician, Water and Waste Water Technician, Biotechnology Technologist or Outdoor Adventure Naturalist.

Graduates are eligible to receive an Ontario College Certificate in General Arts and Science - One Year, with concentration in Environmental Studies. Graduates can apply to another program at the College or continue their studies in Year II of the General Arts and Science Ontario College Diploma program. Some credits may be considered as transfer credits towards other college programs. Additionally, eligible students who complete the certificate program with a GPA of 3.0 or better are eligible for Articulation Agreements.   •  Grade12 English 

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants with an OSSD showing senior English and/or Mathematics courses at the Basic Level, or with Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine their eligibility for admission; OR Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate; OR General Educational Development (GED) certificate; OR Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without a high school diploma at the start of the program). Eligibility may be determined by academic achievement testing for which a fee of $50 (subject to change) will be charged.
